Emirati food in Dubai: make one meal part of the trip

Leave time for a local meal, a conversation and a flavour you want to remember.
Begin with a little curiosity
Dubai’s local cuisine offers dishes such as machboos, a spiced rice dish with meat or fish; harees, based on wheat and meat; and luqaimat, sweet dumplings often served with date syrup. These are starting points for asking about the menu, with preparations varying between kitchens. Dubai Government’s food guide.

Choose a meal that fits your day
Start with the area you will be exploring and the time you want to spend eating. A relaxed lunch, a quick taste and a longer evening meal each need a different place in the itinerary. Put the meal into the route before filling the day with attractions.
Tell us the food you are curious about, your approximate dining budget and your preferred atmosphere. Confirm the restaurant’s current menu and opening hours directly. A dish described in a guide is not a guarantee that a particular restaurant serves it that day.
Make dietary needs specific
Ask the restaurant about ingredients, preparation and the requirements that matter to your party. Describe allergies or dietary restrictions directly to the venue rather than relying on a general cuisine label. Confirm any seating or access requirements when requesting the table.
Keep the booking and bill clear
Reservation assistance, the restaurant bill and transport are separate services unless your accepted written quote combines them. Ask whether the venue requires a deposit, minimum spend or cancellation fee before you agree. We only confirm a reservation after the venue accepts it.
If you would like context while exploring, request a licensed guide for an agreed route and language. Leave the day flexible enough for a heritage stop and a meal you can enjoy. Solo travellers, couples, families and business visitors can each choose the pace and level of help that suits them.
